Big South Announces Men's Basketball Players of the Week - Jan. 26

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (www.BigSouthSports.com) – Longwood forward Elijah Tucker (Canton, Ga.) has been named the Big South Men’s Basketball Player of the Week, while Radford forward Frederik Erichsen (Copenhagen, Denmark) is the Freshman of the Week honoree for games played Jan. 19-25, it was announced today.

Tucker led Longwood to back-to-back Big South wins with 21.0 points, 9.5 rebounds, 2.0 steals, 1.5 blocks and 1.5 assists while shooting 78.3 percent from the field (18-of-23).  He opened with a team-high 21 points along with 10 rebounds, two blocks and two assists in the Lancers’ victory over Gardner-Webb last Wednesday.  In Friday night’s overtime win over Charleston Southern, Tucker led the Lancers with 21 points and nine boards, and added three steals -- including the game-sealing takeaway with Longwood up by one in overtime.

Erichsen averaged 8.0 points and 2.5 rebounds in 31 minutes off the bench, while making 62.5 percent from the field (5-of-8) and 75.0 percent from the charity stripe (6-of-8).  After scoring five points at Winthrop last Wednesday, Erichsen matched his scoring high against a Division I opponent with 11 points in just 18 minutes vs. High Point on Friday.
 
Also nominated for Player of the Week: A’lahn Sumler (Charleston Southern), Jacob Hogarth (Gardner-Webb), Terry Anderson (High Point), Jonah Pierce (Presbyterian), Kameron Taylor (UNC Asheville) and Logan Duncomb (Winthrop).
