Big South Announces Men's Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week - Jan. 28
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (www.BigSouthSports.com) – The Big South Conference announced today its Men's Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week for competitions during the weekend of Jan. 22-25.
Charleston Southern’s
Aden Price (Columbia, S.C.) was selected the Men’s Track Athlete of the Week, with High Point’s
Ricardo Montes de Oca (Venezuela) tabbed the Men’s Field Athlete of the Week. CSU’s
Laden Beckwith (Knightdale, N.C.) earned Men’s Freshman of the Week honors.
Price ran the conference’s top times this season in the 200m and 400m at the Orange & Purple Invite, as he established career-bests of 21.33 in the 200m and 47.96 in the 400m. Those times are fifth and seventh in the CSU record book, respectively.
Montes de Oca secured a second-place finish in the pole vault at the Hokie Invitational with a clearance of 5.57m.
Beckwith made his collegiate debut with a Big South season-best time of 6.74 in the 60m dash at the Orange & Purple Invite, which is fourth-fastest in school history. Beckwith also ran as part of the Bucs’ 4x400m relay (3:21.51) and fourth-place Distance Medley Relay (10:07.28).
