Big South Announces Men's Basketball Players of the Week - Jan. 5

Logan Duncomb (Cincinnati, Ohio) has been named the Big South Men’s Basketball Player of the Week, while Gardner-Webb guard
Spence Sims (Fairhope, Ala.) is the Freshman of the Week honoree for games played Dec. 29-Jan. 4, it was announced today.
Duncomb averaged 26.0 points and 11.5 rebounds (5.0 offensive rebounds) while shooting 79.2 percent from the field (19-of-24) in two games. He first had a career-high 31 points in addition to 13 boards (six offensive) in Winthrop’s conference-opening setback at Longwood on New Year’s Eve. In Saturday’s win over Gardner-Webb, Duncomb posted a 21-point, 10-rebound double-double along with an assist, block and steal despite facing a number of double-teams. He scored 17 points in the second half to help the Eagles erase a 20-point deficit, and scored eight-straight points in a two-minute stretch as Winthrop took the lead for good. Duncomb was 14-of-20 from the charity stripe ( =70.0 percent) in the two contests.
Sims averaged 20.5 points and shot 64.3 percent from three-point range (9-of-14) in two games last week. He opened with 12 points, two rebounds, one steal and 4-of-4 from the line last Wednesday against Charleston Southern. Sims then scored a career-high 29 points Saturday at Winthrop as he went 11-of-18 from the floor ( =61.1 percent) and made 7-of-12 three-pointers ( =58.3). He also had three rebounds, an assist and block against the Eagles.
