CHARLOTTE, N.C. (www.BigSouthSports.com) – USC Upstate midfielder Henry Burt (London, England) has been named the Big South Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, while Radford’s Jackson Boreham (Edmond, Okla.) is the Defensive Player of the Week for matches played Oct. 19-25, it was announced today. In addition, Winthrop forward Teo Jelaca (Ljubljana, Slovenia) has been selected as the Freshman of the Week.

Burt scored both goals in USC Upstate’s 2-1 victory at UNC Asheville to help the Spartans clinch a berth in the Big South Tournament. The sophomore recorded his first multi-goal performance of the season and his collegiate career, opening the scoring in the 13th minute to give Upstate an early lead. He struck again in the 55th minute, converting a setup from his teammates for what proved to be the game-winning goal and a 2-0 advantage. Burt finished with three shots in 71 minutes of action.

Boreham scored a goal while helping Radford hold first-place High Point to two goals despite playing a man down for the final 67 minutes. Ten minutes after the Highlanders went down a man with the score tied at 1-1, the junior defender found the net at the 37:36 mark to give Radford a 2-1 lead. The goal was his second of the season. Boreham then helped limit the Panthers to one goal over the remainder of the match as Radford earned a crucial point in the Big South standings. He played all 90 minutes.

Jelaca scored Winthrop’s lone goal in each of the Eagles’ 1-1 draws against Virginia Tech and Gardner-Webb. Coming off the bench in both matches, the freshman equalized in the 48th minute against Virginia Tech to help Winthrop earn its first result against an ACC opponent since 2003. He then opened the scoring in Saturday’s conference matchup with the Runnin’ Bulldogs, finding the net in the 51st minute to give the Eagles a 1-0 lead and help them secure a valuable point in the league standings. Jelaca totaled 75 minutes across the two matches and put three of his four shots on target.
