Big South Men's Soccer Conference Summary - Oct. 3
USC Upstate and High Point each picked up key home wins on Saturday.
USC UPSTATE 2, RADFORD 1 | BOX SCORE | RECAP
USC Upstate men's soccer picked up its second Big South victory of the season Saturday afternoon, holding off Radford for a 2-1 win at County University Soccer Stadium. The victory moved the Spartans to 4-8-0 overall and 2-1-0 in conference play. Upstate wasted little time getting on the board, striking in the seventh minute. Jayden Montgomery put an initial attempt on frame before Josh Zawlocki found the back of the net at the 6:24 mark, with Max Beullens earning the assist to give the Spartans an early 1-0 advantage.
HIGH POINT 2, LONGWOOD 0 | BOX SCORE | RECAP
In the first October Big South Conference match, the High Point University men's soccer team blanked Longwood, 2-0, on a brisk and misty night at Vert Stadium. It marked the Panthers' fifth straight win and second consecutive clean sheet as HPU moved to No. 29 in the NCAA DI Men's Soccer RPI. In a moment bigger than the game, HPU goalkeeper Josh Caron exchanged his No. 1 jersey for No. 27 to show support of Furman University's Luke Munson, who suffered an injury earlier this season that unfortunately ended his soccer career.
