CHARLOTTE, N.C. (www.BigSouthSports.com) – The Big South Conference announced today its Women's Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week for competitions during the weekend of Feb. 5-8.

Radford’s 4x400m relay team of Mattie Flores, Raichelle Cornelius, Jordan Jackson and Jeylah Hamrick is the Women’s Track Athlete of the Week, while High Point’s Ashlyn Giles (Reading, Pa.) earned Women’s Field Athlete of the Week honors.  Radford’s Jaelynn Joiner (Richmond, Va.) and HPU’s Kendall Hicks (Matthews, N.C.) shared the Freshman of the Week award.

For the second consecutive meet, the team of Flores, Cornelius, Jackson and Hamrick broke the school record in the 4x400m relay, as the quartet won the event at the Doc Hale Invite with a record time of 3:40.20.  That effort was four seconds faster than the previous school mark and is second-fastest in Big South history.

Giles broke the Big South and program record in winning the shot put at the Camel City Invite with a distance of 16.31m -- surpassing the old league mark by just .02 meters.

Competing at the Doc Hale Invite, Joiner finished third in the long jump with a leap of 5.72m, and was fourth in the triple jump with a distance of 12.19m.  She also recorded a PR in the 200m with a time of 25.19 (eighth-fastest in the Big South this season).  Hicks also competed at the Doc Hale Invite, and ran a 7.66 in the 60m dash and 25.01 in the 200m.
