Big South Announces Women's Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week - Feb. 18

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (www.BigSouthSports.com) – The Big South Conference announced today its Women's Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week for competitions during the weekend of Feb. 12-15.
 
High Point’s Brianna Malone (Barrington, N.H.) and Radford’s Jeylah Hamrick (Williamsburg, Va.) shared the Women’s Track Athlete of the Week honor for their respective conference record-breaking performances, while High Point’s Zamesha Myle (Kingstown, St. Vincent) earned Women’s Field Athlete of the Week accolades.  HPU’s Kendall Hicks (Matthews, N.C.) was selected the Women’s Freshman of the Week.
 
Malone broke her own Big South record in the mile run with her time of 4:34.86 at the ASICS Sound Invite, as she shaved nearly a minute off her previous best.  She also ran the 1,500m and clocked a time of 4:16.29.
 
Hamrick surpassed her week-old conference mark in the 400m with time of 53.70 to win the event at the Darius Dixon Memorial Invitational -- establishing the Meet record in the process.  Hamrick was also part of the Highlanders’ 4x400m relay team that placed second in a time of 3:42.34.
 
Myle finished fifth in the triple jump at the Tiger Paw Invitational with a distance of 12.90m.
 
Hicks recorded two Top 10 finishes at the ASICS Sound Invite.  She was seventh in the 60 dash (7.75) and eighth in the 200m (24.89).
