Big South Announces Women's Tennis Players of the Week - Feb. 4

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (www.BigSouthSports.com– NJIT’s Irene Cocero (Alcala De Henares, Spain) has been named the Big South Women's Tennis Player of the Week for matches played Jan. 26-Feb 1, while Presbyterian’s Ladina Bruhin (Weinfelden, Switzerland) was named the Women's Freshman of the Week honoree, it was announced today. 
 
Cocero earned two singles wins last week. She opened by defeating Quinnipiac’s Anagha Shankar on the No. 3 court (7-5,6-3) to help NJIT secure the 4-3 team win.  Against Rutgers, she earned another singles victory on the No. 3 court, posting a 6-0, 3-6, 6-2 triumph over Karina Jumazhanova.
 
Bruhin stayed undefeated to start her collegiate career in dual matches, as she picked up a 6-2, 6-1 straight-set victory on the top singles court to help PC secure its first win of the season -- a 4-3 victory over Belmont Abbey on Jan. 30. She also recorded a 6-1 win with partner Roxana Valdes at the No. 1 doubles flight.
