High Point Wins 2026 Big South Men's Indoor Track & Field Championship

MILL SPRING, N.C. -- High Point maintained its first day lead to win the 2026 Big South Men's Indoor Track & Field Championship on Saturday.  The Panthers finished the meet with 188 points to claim their fifth Big South Men's Indoor Track & Field title and fourth consecutive crown.  Charleston Southern was second in the final standings with 160 points, followed by USC Upstate in third with 106 points.

FINAL RESULTS

High Point had five total conference champions on the day -- including Cole Wilson winning his third consecutive heptathlon and breaking his own Championship Meet record with 5,815 points.  AJ Miller won the 800m race in a time of 1:51.58, and Alex Constantinou was victorious in the high jump for the second-straight year with a height of 2.06m. Also earning gold for the Panthers were Mobughichukwu Nwakor in the triple jump (15.10m) and Dominiq Northington in the 60m Hurdles (8.02).

Charleston Southern also had five champions Saturday (Aden Price - 200m and 400m, Micah Gilpatric repeating as the 3,000m champion, Laden Beckwith - 60m and Griffin Gillespie in the mile), while Gardner-Webb's Quentin Peterson earned gold again in the shot put with a Championship Meet record of 20.10m.  Winthrop's 4x400m Relay Team of Kevin Brown, Shane King, Kendale Cooke, and Tristen Patterson captured the Eagles' second 4x400m title in three years with a winning time of 3:14.00.

Price was named the Men's Indoor Freshman of the Year, while GWU's Peterson earned the Most Outstanding Performance of the Meet for having the highest nationally-ranked mark or time that was established during the Championship.  CSU's Martin Iriondo received the Most Valuable Athlete Award for accumulating the most inidividual points among the competitors.  High Point's Nigel Steenwinkel was recognized as the Newcomer of the Year, and Charleston Southern and High Point shared the Coaching Staff of the Year award.  Gardner-Webb's Jonathan Timpson was voted Scholar-Athlete of the Year by the league's Sports Information Directors.  Below are the final standings, and the full list of the top award winners.
