Big South Announces Women's Golfers of the Week - March 12

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (www.BigSouthSports.com) – UNC Asheville’s Caroline Patterson (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.) has been named the Big South Women’s Golfer of the Week, while Winthrop’s Alayna Friedt (Naples, Fla.) is the Women’s Freshman of the Week honoree for events played March 5-11, it was announced today.
 
Patterson was the medalist at the Low Country Intercollegiate (par 72, 6,156 yards) with a 1-over par 217 (72-75-70), marking her second career win as a Bulldog.  She won by five strokes, and led the 79-player field in par-5 scoring (-5) and tied for the top spot in par-4 scoring (4.07).  Patterson also paced the tournament with 10 birdies in leading Asheville to the team title -- the program’s first tournament victory since 2019.
 
Friedt tied for 20th at the Low Country Intercollegiate with a 54-hole score of 231 (76-75-80) for her highest finish of the season.  She was the Eagles’ top scorer for the first time this year, and placed sixth overall among the 19 Big South competitors in the event.
