Big South Announces Women's Lacrosse Players of the Week - March 24

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (www.BigSouthSports.com– Mercer attacker Caroline Glus (Hershey, Pa.) has been named the Big South Women’s Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week, while Wofford defender Brooke Meltcher (Wading River, N.Y.) is the Defensive Player of the Week for games played March 16-22, it was announced today. In addition, Wofford midfielder Sara Fenwick (Reisterstown, Md.) has been named the Freshman of the Week.
 
Glus recorded three goals and a season-high two assists for Mercer against No. 9 Clemson. She placed all four of her shots on goal and converted her lone free-position attempt. The senior opened her scoring with an unassisted goal at the 4:08 mark of the second quarter before registering her first assist less than three minutes later, just before halftime. She added her second goal at 8:09 of the third quarter and later played a role in Mercer’s back-to-back fourth-quarter goals, assisting Sofia D’Angelo at 13:14 before scoring unassisted at 10:35.
 
Meltcher set a new career high and program record with seven caused turnovers and tied a career best with eight ground balls in Wofford’s 22-14 win over Butler. She also added one draw control. The junior accounted for seven of the Terriers’ 15 caused turnovers in the game, while her eight ground balls were five more than any other player in the contest.
 
Fenwick scored two goals and won two draw controls to help lead Wofford past Butler. Her two goals matched a career high, while her two draw controls were one shy of equaling her career best. The freshman gave the Terriers a 4-1 lead with her first goal at the 9:58 mark of the first quarter before adding her second of the opening frame with 3:57 remaining to extend the advantage to 6-3. Fenwick placed two of her three shots on goal in the victory.

Also nominated for Freshman of the Week: Peyton Daley (Longwood), Sophie Andrychowski (Mercer), Aleese Warner (Radford) and Kamryn Davis (Winthrop).
