Big South Announces Women's Outdoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week - April 23

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (www.BigSouthSports.com) – The Big South Conference announced today its Women's Outdoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week for competitions during April 16-19.
 
High Point’s 4x100m Relay team of Kaia Putman, Zamesha Myle, Gabrielle Crane and Quiana Williams was selected the Women’s Track Athlete of the Week, while the Panthers’ Ashlyn Giles (Reading, Pa.) earned Women’s Field Athlete of the Week accolades.  Gardner-Webb’s Hannah Hoffman (Greenville, S.C.) was honored as the Women’s Freshman of the Week.
 
Putnam, Myle, Crane and Williams competed at the Aggie Invite hosted by North Carolina A&T and placed fourth in the 4x100m relay with a program-record time of 44.89 seconds, which ranks fifth all-time in Big South history and is the fastest 4x100m in the conference this season.
 
Giles won her sixth straight shot put title of the outdoor season after throwing 16.16m at the Wake Forest Invitational.  In the discus, she threw 52.35m for second-place in the event.
 
Hoffman won the hammer throw at the Winthrop Invitational with a distance of 53.70m.  Her performance ranks 12th among all freshmen in the East Region, and met the U-20 Auto Qualifying Standard.
