Big South Announces Women's Lacrosse Players of the Week - April 28

Reese Dowgiallo (Lothian, Md.) has been named the Big South Women’s Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week, while Wofford defender
Brooke Meltcher (Wading River, N.Y.) is the Defensive Player of the Week for games played April 20-26, it was announced today. In addition, Gardner-Webb midfielder
Maddie Tredway (Alpharetta, Ga.) has been named the Freshman of the Week.
Dowgiallo tallied nine goals and nine assists for a total of 18 points in a 2-0 week for High Point. She had at least four goals and seven points in each game. In her first two games back since being out due to injury since March 1, she netted four goals and dished out three assists at Gardner-Webb, followed by five goals and six assists in a career performance on Senior Day against Presbyterian. Dowgiallo’s 11 points against PC were one point shy of the single-game program record, while the five goals, six assists, and 11 points were all career highs.
Meltcher recorded 10 ground balls and caused four turnovers in two games for Wofford. Facing first-place Mercer, she scooped up seven ground balls, two shy of her career high and the most she has had in a conference game this season. She also caused three turnovers against the Bears, tied for the most by any player on either team, while adding one draw control. A junior, Meltcher followed up with three ground balls and one turnover in a two-goal road win at Radford.
Tredway scored five goals and added seven draw controls in two games for Gardner-Webb. She put 11 of 13 shots on goal ( =84.6 percent) and scooped up one ground ball. The freshman scored twice while tallying two ground balls and one draw control Wednesday against second-place High Point. She followed with a hat trick on seven shots against Furman to go along with five draw controls, tied for a game high.
