Big South Announces Women's Golfers of the Week - April 9

Katie Stephens (Middlesbrough, England) has been named the Big South Women’s Golfer of the Week, while High Point’s
Makayla Grubb (Stafford, Va.) is the Women’s Freshman of the Week honoree for events played April 2-8, it was announced today.
Stephens shared medalist honors at the Golfweek/Stifel Women’s Spring Challenge (par 71, 6,082 yards) with a 5-under par 208 (67-70-71). She was second in the 100-player field in par-5 scoring with a 4.58 average, tied for the second-most birdies with 12 -- including six in a nine-hole span during the first round -- and tallied an eagle. Stephens helped the Bucs finish fourth in the 16-team event.
Grubb tied for third out of 90 competitors at the Terps Invitational (par 72, 6,244 yards) with a 1-over 217 (75-72-70) for her fifth Top 5 standing of the season. She improved each round and moved up 11 spots on the leaderboard following her final round 70, which included four of her eight overall birdies. Grubb was 3-under on the par-5 layouts, and led the Panthers to a fourth-place finish behind Virginia (No. 37), Kentucky (No. 33) and Maryland in the 16-team field.
