High Point Leads 2026 Women's Outdoor Track & Field Championships After Day 1

HIGH POINT, N.C. (www.BigSouthSports.com) High Point sits atop the standings with 46 points after the first day of the 2026 Big South Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Championships Monday at Vert Stadium on the campus of High Point University.  The Panthers are ahead of second-place Charleston Southern (39 points) and third-place Gardner-Webb (13 points).
 
Charleston Southern won all three finals on Monday with gold medals in the Hammer Throw, Long Jump and 10,000-meter run.  Charleston Southern’s Zemaya Carson won the hammer with a PR distance of 57.80m -- the first Buccaneer to win the event since 2008.  CSU’s Maeva Tahou set a Big South Championship Meet-record in winning the long jump with a leap of 6.27m, becoming CSU’s first long jump conference champion since 2011.  Charleston Southern’s Keerstin Augustin was victorious in the 10,000m run, as she became the first Buccaneer ever to win the event at the Championship Meet as she crossed the line first in 34:59.25.
 
In preliminary action, Radford’s Jaslyne Robinson posted the top time in the 400m Hurdles with a mark of 1:00.41 seconds, while teammate Jeylah Hamrick had the top time in the 200m (24.02).  High Point’s Brianna Malone crossed the finish line in the 1,500m in 4:35.34 to earn the top spot in Wednesday’s final.
 
Meanwhile, Charleston Southern’s Chloe Greene is the Heptathlon leader following four events.  Greene, the 2022 and 2023 Big South Heptathlon Champion, sits in first-place with 3,153 points, ahead of High Point teammates Mya Hines (3,093) and Linnea Safstrom (2,756).
 
The Big South Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Championships continue Tuesday, May 12 from Vert Stadium beginning at 2:00pm.  Coverage on ESPN+ begins at 2:30pm.
