LEXINGTON, Ky. - In action at the 2026 NCAA Division I East Regional Championships, senior
Quentin Peterson advanced to represent Gardner-Webb at the upcoming NCAA Division I Outdoor National Championship meet in Eugene, Oregon.
Competing in shot put and in a field largely of power conference athletes, Peterson placed ninth on Wednesday evening with a mark of 18.81 meters in men's shot put. Peterson's mark is the second best in Gardner-Webb history for an outdoor meet, trailing only his own record of 19.60 set during this year's Big South Conference Championships just a couple of weeks ago. Peterson will advance to compete in this year's NCAA Outdoor Championship meet in Eugene, Oregon, scheduled for June 10th-13th. He adds to a long-list of accolades that also includes competing at the NCAA Indoor Championships back in March, where he was named a Second Team All-American and posted the highest national finish in program history.
Also in action on Wednesday for the Runnin' Bulldogs was freshman
Joshua Powell, taking part in his first NCAA Regionals meet. Powell was scored 39th overall, posting a mark of 7.06 meters in men's long jump.
