Big South Announces Softball Players of the Week - May 4

Peyton Duncan (Tabor City, N.C.) is the Pitcher of the Week honoree for the final weekend of the regular season, it was announced today. In addition, Gardner-Webb pitcher
Glenna McLamb (Godwin, N.C.) is the Freshman of the Week honoree.
Christopher batted .333 in helping USC Upstate to a series win over Presbyterian. The highlight of her weekend was a three hit, three RBI performance in game two against Presbyterian. She doubled in this game after the Spartans lost the first of the series, helping USC Upstate to complete the comeback series win.
Duncan helped the Blue Hose clinch their spot in the Big South Tournament with a complete-game shutout at USC Upstate on Friday, giving PC its first-ever win over the Spartans on the road. It was the only time all season (51 games) that USC Upstate was held completely scoreless, with Duncan never letting any batters advance past second base. She conceded just one hit in her last 15 at-bats, walking only one and striking out four throughout the game. Duncan enters the postseason with an active streak of 17 straight innings with no earned runs allowed against conference opponents.
In her only start of the week, McLamb pitched a 6.0 inning shutout against ETSU, allowing only two hits and one walk. Gardner-Webb scored a 1-0 win in the contest.
