WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – Sophomore Martin Sayer (Hong Kong) was named to the VaSID All-State Men’s Tennis second team. It was the second consecutive year Sayer earned All-State honors, garnering First Team accolades in 2006.

Sayer, the two-time Big South Player of the Year, finished the season 32-10 overall and 20-2 this spring. He helped Radford win its first Big South Championship and reach the NCAA Tournament for the first time in school history. Among the players in the Commonwealth, he was the fourth highest ranked player nationally (48th) and regionally (sixth) and was just one of seven players in the state to finish the season with a national ranking in singles. Sayer also tied for the fourth highest win total in singles play.

This season he recorded a 15-match winning streak over a two month span, having it snapped in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. It was his second straight trip to the second round. In two season’s at RU, he has compiled a 69-19 overall record and 43-6 record in the spring.
