CHARLOTTE, N.C. (www.BigSouthSports.com) – Liberty sophomore quarterback Stephen Calvert (Plantation, Fla.) has been named the Big South Football Offensive Player of the Week, while Kennesaw State redshirt-freshman linebacker Bryson Armstrong (Marietta, Ga.) has been selected as the Defensive Player of the Week for games played the third week of the regular season.  Liberty redshirt-junior safety Corbin Jackson (Charlotte, N.C.) is the Special Teams Player of the Week and Presbyterian College running back Mark Robinson (Leesburg, Ga.) is the Freshman of the Week.

Calvert was 30-of-42 passing for 379 yards and four touchdowns in Liberty’s 42-41 win over Indiana State Saturday.  He completed 71.4 percent of his passes and finished with a 173.90 efficiency rating.  Calvert threw TDs of 3, 13, 32 and 6 yards to become the first quarterback in league history to open a season with three consecutive 3-TD pass games.

Armstrong recorded a program-record 15 tackles -- including 13 solo -- in the Owls’ 20-14 win at Alabama State.  He added two sacks for minus-17 yards, an interception and a forced fumble.  With the Hornets driving for a potential game-tying touchdown late in the fourth quarter, Armstrong recorded a strip-sack fumble that moved ASU back to near midfield.  He helped KSU hold Alabama State to 36 rushing yards and 195 total yards on the night.

Jackson blocked Indiana State’s potential game-winning 23-yard field goal to seal the one-point victory for the Flames.  It was the third time in the last four seasons that Liberty blocked a field goal to win a game.  Jackson added seven tackles and three pass break-ups on defense.

Robinson rushed 13 times for a team-high 86 yards and two touchdowns in PC’s 28-16 win over future Big South member Campbell Saturday night.
His first score was a bruising 14-yard run that gave the Blue Hose their first lead of the year at 7-3.  He later scored from 1-yard out on PC’s final scoring drive to put the game out of reach, in which he carried the ball on all six plays for 46 yards with a season-long 24 yard gain.
