Liberty's Stephen Calvert Named National Player of the Week
Already named Big South Offensive Player of the Week Monday, Liberty quarterback
Stephen Calvert was named the STATS FCS National Offensive Player of the Week for his record-breaking performance in the Flames' 48-45 win at Baylor.
Calvert helped Liberty's offense rack up 585 total offensive yards on 103 plays, averaging 5.7 yards per play. The Flames also controlled the clock by finishing with a 38:16 to 21:44 time of possession advantage.
The sophomore quarterback set Liberty and Big South single-game records for passing yards (447), competitions (44) and attempts (60). He threw for three touchdowns and rushed for another, an eight-yard run in the fourth quarter to account for his first career rushing touchdown.
