Paige Demetriades (Lake Hauto, Pa.) has been named the Women’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week and High Point freshman
Famke Heinst (Gelderland, Netherlands) has been named the Women’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week for the first week of competition, the conference office announced Wednesday.
Demetriades took to the field for the first time as a Lady Flame and recorded a javelin throw of 47.65m to win the event last week at the CSU Spring Break Invitational. Her throw beat the second-place finisher by over 10 meters.
Heinst competed at the 49er Classic last week where she secured a finishing time of 4:29.15 in the women’s 1500m, which was good enough for a fifth-place finish.
