Big South Announces Softball Players of the Week - Feb. 25

Alyssa Oakes (Winter Park, Fla.) has been named the Big South Softball Player of the Week, while teammate
Christina Biggerstaff (Houston, Texas) is the Pitcher of the Week for the second time this season. In addition, Campbell’s
Claudia Ware (Leonard, Texas) is the conference’s Freshman of the Week for games played Feb. 18-24, the league announced Monday.
Oakes helped lead the Spartans to two wins in both of their games this past weekend with 10 RBI, five hits and a .833 batting average. In a win over N.C. Central, she tallied two hits, two runs, a home run and a double along with six driven in. Oakes ended the week with a three-hit, four RBI performance with another home run and double in the victory against Robert Morris.
The Big South Preseason Co-Pitcher of the Year Biggerstaff tallied another no-hitter last week. She notched 11 strikeouts in five innings pitched over the Colonials in her only start of the week.
Ware recorded three hits in six at-bats last week (.500 average) with three RBI, three walks and an extra base hit. She began the week with a hit and a run with three RBI and a double in a victory against Oakland. Than in a win over La Salle, Ware tallied a hit, one run and a walk.
