Big South Announces Softball Players of the Week - May 6

Bri Bryant (Fayetteville, N.C.) has been named the Big South Softball Player of the Week, while Winthrop junior
Madyson Watson (Plain City, Ohio) is the Pitcher of the Week for games played the final week of the regular season. In addition, Camel
Claudia Ware (Leonard, Texas) is the conference’s Freshman of the Week for the third time this season, the conference office announced Monday.
Bryant helped lead Campbell to a sweep of Radford and clinch the No. 3 seed in this week’s conference tournament with six hits, a .750 batting average, three runs and two RBI last week. In game one on Friday, she collected four hits with two doubles and an RBI in the 3-2 win. Then in game two of a doubleheader on Saturday, Bryant recorded a RBI with a double, a run and a stolen base in another 3-2 victory.
Watson finished the week 2-0 in the circle with a 0.78 ERA in 18 innings pitched. In a 6-3 win at UNCG, she did not allow a run in seven innings pitched. Then in the second game of a doubleheader at Charleston Southern on Friday, Watson had a complete game win with no earned runs allowed and struck out four.
In the Camels three wins last week, Ware finished with a .375 batting average with three hits, four RBI and a run scored. At home against Radford on Friday, she had a double and an RBI in the 3-2 win. Ware then tallied a triple in game one of a doubleheader on Saturday, where she drove in three and scored a run in the 6-2 win over the Highlanders.
