WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – Monmouth University quarterback Kenji Bahar (Baltimore, MD/Calvert Hall) has been added to the Walter Payton Award Watch List, the annual award handed out to the nation's top FCS offensive player.

Earlier this month, Bahar was named Big South Preseason Offensive Player of the Year and to the league's preseason all-conference team. The Baltimore native has started 26 consecutive games for the Blue & White and has appeared in 34 games overall. The fifth-year senior ranks fifth or higher in almost every career passing record and is 1,855 yards away from the career passing yards top spot.

Last season he accounted for 23 total touchdowns, including passing for 20. In 2018 Bahar set set the Monmouth record for passing yards in a season while leading the Big South in passing yards, efficiency, yards per game, yards per completion and passing touchdowns. He is the first Monmouth player to earn Big South Preseason Offensive Player of the Year honors.
