Big South Announces Men's Basketball Players of the Week - Dec. 20
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (www.BigSouthSports.com) – UNC Asheville junior forward/center Drew Pember (Knoxville, Tenn.) has been named the Big South Men’s Basketball Player of the Week, while USC Upstate guard Jalen Breazeale (Roebuck, S.C.) is the Freshman of the Week for games played Dec. 13-19, it was announced today.
Pember scored a career-high 27 points with seven rebounds and four blocked shots in Saturday’s win over East Tennessee State. He was 10-of-15 from the floor, made 4-of-8 three-pointers and drained all three free throws. Earlier in the week at UT-Martin, Pember grabbed five boards and had five blocks. He also tallied two assists in each game.
Breazeale scored 12 points, had six rebounds and handed out six assists in two contests last week. He first scored five points with three boards and two helpers at No. 18/18 Tennessee last Tuesday, and followed with seven points, four handouts, three rebounds and steals Saturday afternoon vs. Converse.
Also nominated for Player of the Week: Jesus Carralero (Campbell), D’Maurian Williams (Gardner-Webb), Isaiah Wilkins (Longwood), Tyler Maye (North Carolina A&T), Rashun Williams (Radford) and Bryson Mozone (USC Upstate).
