Big South Statement on Hampton Women's Basketball Program
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (www.BigSouthSports.com) – Following Hampton’s announcement earlier this afternoon that its extended pause of women’s basketball activities due to COVID-related protocols will prevent the Lady Pirates from competing the remainder of the 2020-21 season, the Big South Conference has announced that the Hercules Tires Women’s Basketball Championship tournament will now be a 10-team event, and will feature two first round games on Saturday, March 6, instead of three.
Hampton’s pause began Feb. 24 and its final two regular-season conference series were canceled. The Big South will announce the seedings and pairings of the 2021 Hercules Tires Women’s Basketball Championship Wednesday night following the conclusion of the regular-season.
