Big South Announces Women's Soccer Players of the Week - March 9

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (www.BigSouthSports.com) Gardner-Webb junior forward Jada Newton (Woodbridge, Va.) has been named the Big South Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, while High Point senior fullback Mackenzie Mullins (Flemington, N.J.) is the Defensive Player of the Week for matches played March 1-7, it was announced today. In addition, Winthrop midfielder Bryn Radvanski (Matawan, N.J.) is the Freshman of the Week.

Newton propelled Gardner-Webb to a 1-0 Big South victory over Presbyterian with her score at the 14:48 mark of the contest.  She had three shots total, including one on net.

Mullins was part of the Panthers’ defense that kept UNC Asheville off the scoreboard, as well as limit the Bulldogs to just one shot the entire game.  She also added an assist on High Point’s third goal of the afternoon.

Radvanski’s first career collegiate goal was an unassisted score at 31:12 that gave Winthrop a 1-0 lead in its eventual 3-1 victory over USC Upstate on Sunday.

Also nominated for Freshman of the Week: Cazzi Norgren (Campbell), Makenna Stickler (Gardner-Webb), Salomé Prat (High Point), Alayna Palamar (Longwood) and Ashley Finn (USC Upstate)
