#3 Campbell Upends #2 Radford, Advances Title Match
The No. 3 seeded Campbell women's soccer team (7-3-1) advanced to the title game of the Big South Championship for the fourth time in program history after a 3-1 win over No. 2 seeded Radford (7-3-1) Tuesday evening at Cupp Stadium.
After allowing a Radford goal from Izzy Armstrong in the 26th minute, Campbell roared back with the equalizer just a few moments later as Hanna Maansson netted her first career goal in the 28th minute.
Campbell took the lead in the second half as Jessica Donald collected the ball after it rebounded off the Radford keeper and scored, putting the Camels ahead in the 57th minute.
Cazzi Norgren later added insurance in the 74th minute, finding the back of the net on a screamer from roughly 30 yards out on one of the more impressive goals of the evening.
The Highlanders' best opportunity to cut the deficit came late in the 86th minute as Katie Oliver's shot was stopped by Stephanie Martelli who picked up her fifth win in goal for the Camels.
Campbell out-shot Radford 14-10 overall and 8-3 in shots on goal. Campbell also earned nine corners to the Highlanders' two.
The Camels are back on the pitch at No. 1 seeded / No. 24 High Point on Friday for the title game of the Big South Championship. Kickoff from Vert Stadium is set for 7:00 p.m. and will be broadcasted on ESPN+.
