Claire Blount's three-run home run in the sixth inning was all the offense needed for top-seed Campbell (25-16) to knock off four-seed Radford (21-31), 3-2 in the first round of the Big South Championship.

The Highlanders jumped out to a 1-0 in the second inning after Destiny Freeman led the inning off with a triple before being scored on an Autumn Slemaker fielder's choice to third base just getting under a tag at the plate.

Both teams' pitchers and defenses would take control over the next three innings as neither team would record a single hit with both teams only having one base runner over that stretch.

In the sixth inning, Radford would extend its lead as Freeman would get her second RBI of the game singling up the middle as Riley Oakes scored from second base.

The Highlanders would go on to load the bases later in the inning before Campbell starter Georgeanna Barefoot got a strikeout to end the inning and get out of the jam.

Campbell would find some offense in the bottom of the sixth as Bri Bryant singled through the left side of the infield, as Claudia Ware would walk later in the inning to set up Blount. The redshirt senior took a fastball deep over the center field wall sending the Campbell dugout into wild celebrations and gave the Camels a 3-2 lead.

The Highlanders would be unable to rally in the top of the seventh as Destini England secured the final out and 3-2 win for Campbell.

Georgeanna Barefoot (11-7) got the win for Campbell going all seven innings giving up two runs off four hits getting seven strikeouts.

Radford's Jessie Marvin (10-15) took the loss giving up three runs off four hits while getting five strikeouts across six innings of work.

Campbell will face the two-seed USC Upstate Spartans (25-17) tomorrow (May 14) in the Big South Championship winner's bracket at 2 p.m on ESPN+.
