CHARLOTTE, N.C. (www.BigSouthSports.com) – The Big South Conference announced today updates to its COVID Emergency Scheduling Policies for the 2021-22 season, which were recently approved by the league’s Council of Chief Executive Officers.

In all sports other than football this season, Big South members that are unable to participate in a regular-season conference event due to COVID-19 impacts will first invoke a postponement by the Conference office, with the intention to reschedule the competition to a later date.  At that time, the two teams will work with the Conference office during a 48-hour period to reschedule the event.  If the contest cannot be rescheduled for any reason within 48-hours of the original contest date, a forfeit shall be declared with the institution originally causing the game not to be played receiving a loss and its opponent receiving a win for Conference standings purposes.

The Big South previously announced that the Football Members voted to declare a contest that is not completed due to COVID-related reasons a ‘forfeit’ by the institution responsible for the cancellation, and games would not be rescheduled.
