Big South Announces Women's Soccer Players of the Week - Sept. 7
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (www.BigSouthSports.com) – Radford midfielder Lily McLane (Dunkirk, Md.) has been named the Big South Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, while Gardner-Webb goaltender Katelyn Kellogg (Goshen, Ky.) is the Defensive Player of the Week for matches played Aug. 30-Sept. 5, it was announced today. In addition, Radford midfielder Kat Parris (Silver Spring, Md.) has been selected as the Freshman of the Week.
McLane posted a league-high three assists in two wins last week for the Highlanders. She first set-up Radford’s lone goal in a 1-0 win over East Tennessee State on Thursday. On Saturday against Delaware State, she delivered two helpers in the Highlanders’ shutout victory. McLane assisted on Radford’s second score at 23:32, and posted her second assist at the 54:53 mark of the contest.
Kellogg led Gardner-Webb to its first two wins of the season with shutout victories at Jacksonville State and Alabama State. She recorded 17 saves in 180 minutes of action, and her clean sheet at JSU featured 12 saves.
Parris scored twice in 37 minutes of action during Radford’s 8-0 victory over Delaware State on Saturday. She opened the game’s scoring with her first goal at 8:50. Her second tally at 54:53 increased the Highlanders’ advantage to 4-0.
