Big South Announces Women's Soccer Players of the Week - Oct. 17
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (www.BigSouthSports.com) – Campbell’s Reagan Baiotto (Hubert, N.C.) has been named the Big South Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, while High Point’s Morgan Hairston (Belews Creek, N.C.) is the Defensive Player of the Week for matches played Oct. 10-16, it was announced today. In addition, UNC Asheville midfielder Azalea Mihailvoich (Cumberland, Md.) has been selected as the Freshman of the Week.
Baiotto recorded a first-half hat trick in Campbell’s 3-0 win Saturday over then-league leader USC Upstate, which moved the Camels ahead of the Spartans in the Big South standings. Entering the match with one goal all season, Baiotto opened the game’s scoring with a goal at 24:01, and netted her second score less than five minutes later. Her third goal came at 36:02 to mark her first career hatter.
Hairston blanked Gardner-Webb -- the Big South’s highest scoring offense -- with three stops along with several defensive plays in High Point’s 4-0 victory Saturday against the Runnin’ Bulldogs. She played all 90 minutes and faced 10 shots in recording her third shutout of the year.
Mihailovich played a part in Asheville’s three goals at Longwood on Saturday where she tallied two assists and also netted the game-winning score in the 3-1 victory. Entering the match with just two goals on the year -- the last of which was Sept. 1, Mihailovich assisted the Bulldogs’ opening goal at 3:06, then put home the eventual game-winner at the 57:00 mark to move Asheville ahead, 2-1. She helped set up the final tally at 84:53.
