Big South Announces Women's Golfers of the Week - Oct. 6
CHARLOTTE, N.C. - (www.BigSouthSports.com) – UNC Asheville junior Madyson Gold (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) has been named the Big South Women’s Golfer of the Week, while Campbell’s Isabella Hahne (Kungsbacka, Sweden) is the Women’s Golf Freshman of the Week honoree for events played Sept. 29-Oct. 5, it was announced today.
Gold tied for third at the Jupiter Women’s Invitational (par 70, 5,890 yards) with a 4-over 214 (76-71-67). It was her career-best finish, her final round 67 established a program record for lowest 18-hole score, and it tied for the second-lowest score in the tournament. Gold had an eagle and four birdies in her final round to move up 15 spots on the leaderboard, and tallied the third-most overall birdies with 11.
Hahne tied for 11th at the Golf Iconic Classic (par 72, 6,420 yards) with a 1-over 217 (69-73-75) for her second-straight Top 15 finish to begin her collegiate career. She was the team’s top finisher, she matched her collegiate low in the first round (69), made 11 birdies -- tied for seventh in the 82-golfer field -- and ranked among the tournament leaders in par-4 (+3) and par-5 (-3) scoring.
