Big South Announces Women's Lacrosse Players of the Week - Feb. 15

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (www.BigSouthSports.com) – High Point graduate attacker Abby Hormes (Fallston, Md.) has been named the Big South Women’s Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week, while Campbell sophomore goalie Emma Strickland (Roswell, Ga.) is the Defensive Player of the Week for matches played during the opening week of the season, it was announced today. In addition, Camel attacker Kaitlyn Gallagher (Rockville, Md.) was named the Freshman of the Week.

Hormes found the back of the net four times in Saturday’s match at Davidson. With her fourth goal of the day, the attacker broke the conference’s all-time record with her 213th career goal. Hormes scored twice in each half, including two goals in the fourth quarter to cut into the Panther deficit.
 
Strickland earned her first victory between the posts in her first career start. The goalie tallied 12 saves and corralled six ground balls, as the Campbell fended off Stetson, 19-8, in Saturday’s season opener.
 
Gallagher posted a match-high three assists for her collegiate debut in Campbell’s road victory at Stetson on Saturday. The attacker handed out a pair of assists in the second quarter when the Camels began to pull away, as they took a 14-4 lead at halftime.
