Big South Announces Men's Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week - Feb. 9
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (www.BigSouthSports.com) – Campbell’s Athanas Kioko (Machakos, Kenya) has been selected the Big South Men’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week, while UNC Asheville’s Solomon McDonald (Carthage, N.C.) was honored as the Big South Men’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Week for competitions during the weekend of Feb. 4-6. In addition, Campbell’s Ja’Darien Parker was named the Men’s Indoor Freshman Athlete of the Week.
Kioko finished fourth in the 3,000m at the Camel City Invite with a time of 7:50.46.
McDonald won the shot put at the ETSU Buccaneer Invitational with a throw of 18.28m, which bettered his previous school record (18.06m) and ranks fourth all-time in Big South history.
Parker won the 200m dash at the Liberty Open with a time of 21.25, which is 10th all-time in league history.
