Big South Announces Women's Lacrosse Players of the Week - March 8

Julianna Sanchez (Annapolis, Md.) has been named the Big South Women’s Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week, while Longwood freshman goalie
Amelia Carlile (Monument, Colo.) is the Defensive Player of the Week for matches played Feb. 28 through March 6, it was announced today. In addition, Longwood midfielder
Ellie Rumbaugh (Hickory, N.C.) was named the Freshman of the Week.
Sanchez totaled 10 points on eight goals and two assists, as well as 17 draw controls over two games for the Camels. She notched a career-high seven points in Saturday’s 13-12 win at Old Dominion, matching a career-best of five goals and adding two assists. Her final tally of the day proved to be the deciding goal in the victory.
Carlile amassed 27 saves in two games last week, beginning with a career-best 16 save performance against VCU. She then followed it up with 11 saves in a victory over Howard. The freshman posted save percentages above .500 in both contests.
Rumbaugh had a breakthrough performance in Sunday’s win over Howard, scoring four goals on five shots for the Lancers. Not only was it a career high for the rookie, but they were the first four goals of her collegiate career. She put all five of her shot attempts on goal and scored what eventually proved to be the game-winner.
