Big South Announces Baseball Players of the Week - April 11

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (www.BigSouthSports.com) –- Campbell’s Tyler Halstead (Riley, Kan.) has been named the Big South Baseball Player of the Week, while Longwood’s Andrew Potojecki (Danville, Va.) is the Starting Pitcher of the Week for games played April 4-10, it was announced today.  In addition, Presbyterian’s Logan Ymker (Sioux Falls, S.D.) was selected the Relief Pitcher of the Week, while UNC Asheville’s Robbie Burnett (Franklinton, N.C.) is the Freshman of the Week.

Halstead hit .625 (5-8) with a 1.375 slugging percentage, .750 on-base average, seven runs scored, three RBI, two home runs, three walks and three stolen bases in Campbell’s three-game sweep of USC Upstate.  He went 4-4 in the opener with two homers, three RBI and three runs, and followed with three walks, two runs scored and a stolen base in game two.  Halstead concluded the series with a hit, two runs and two steals on Sunday.

Potojecki started and won Friday’s series opener at High Point with just three hits and three walks allowed in seven scoreless innings against the Panthers.  He struck out four batters in picking up his sixth win of the season.

Ymker had six strikeouts and a 0.00 earned run average in two appearances for the Blue Hose.  He first struck out five batters and permitted just one hit in 2.0 innings in PC’s 11-7 win at Morehead State on Saturday.  Ymker added another strikeout in 0.2 innings of work in Sunday’s finale.

Burnett batted .385 (5-13) with six runs scored, four RBI, one double, one home run and three walks in Asheville’s series win over North Carolina A&T.  He had three hits in the opener on Friday with a double and run scored, then went 1-3 with two runs, an RBI and two walks on Saturday.  Burnett homered and drove in three runs on Sunday, in addition to scoring three times.

Also nominated for Player of the Week: Nicholas Fazzari (Charleston Southern), Javon Fields (High Point), Dylan Bacot (UNC Asheville), Troy Hamilton (USC Upstate) and Dillon Morton (Winthrop).

Also nominated for Starting Pitcher of the Week: Thomas Harrington (Campbell), Ryan Douglas (UNC Asheville) and Garrett Gainey (Winthrop).

Also nominated for Relief Pitcher of the Week: Cameron O’Brien (Campbell), Dominick D’Ercole (Longwood) and Blake Little (UNC Asheville).

Also nominated for Freshman of the Week: Miggy Echazarreta (High Point) and Kevin Warunek (Longwood).
