Big South Announces Women's Lacrosse Players of the Week - April 12

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (www.BigSouthSports.com) – High Point graduate attacker Abby Hormes (Fallston, Md.) and Mercer senior attacker Hailey Rhatigan (Holbroook, N.Y.) have been named the Big South Women’s Lacrosse Co-Offensive Players of the Week, while Campbell junior defender Rebekah Taylor (Forest Hill, Md.) is the Defensive Player of the Week for matches played April 4-10, it was announced today. In addition, Panther midfielder Mandy Brockamp (Aurora, Colo.) was named the Freshman of the Week.
 
Hormes totaled 15 goals and four assists last week in a pair of conference victories. On Wednesday, the attacker posted six goals and matched a team high with three assists in High Point’s road win at Winthrop. She followed that performance with a career-high nine goals and an assist to lead the Panthers to a win over Presbyterian College last Saturday. She also closed the week with 11 draw-control wins.
 
Rhatigan paced the Bears on the offensive end with 15 goals and four assists, as Mercer remined perfect in Big South play with two league wins. She opened the week with eight goals and four assists in the Bears’ home win over Gardner-Webb. On Saturday, she found the back of the net seven times to lead Mercer to a road win at Furman.
 
Taylor led the Campbell backline to a pair of conference victories last week. In the Camels’ road win at Radford, the junior corralled four ground balls and tied a match high with three caused turnovers. She matched her caused-turnover total in Saturday’s road victory at Longwood with three and scooped up a ground ball.
 
Brockamp posted two goals, seven ground balls, three draw-control wins and caused a pair of turnovers in High Point’s two conference victories last week. Her week was highlighted by a career-high six ground balls in the Panthers’ home win over Presbyterian on Saturday.
