Big South Announces Women's Outdoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week - April 6

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (www.BigSouthSports.com) – North Carolina A&T’s Jonah Ross (Garner, N.C.) has been selected as the Big South Women’s Track Athlete of the Week, while UNC Asheville’s Claudia Prieto (Madrid, Spain) earned Women’s Field Athlete of the Week honors for competitions during the weekend of March 31-April 3..  In addition, A&T’s Grace Nwokocha (Port Harcourt, Nigeria) was honored as the Women’s Freshman Athlete of the Week.

Ross set the Big South-record in the 200m dash with a time of 23.34 seconds at the Florida Relays to finish seventh overall in the event.  She was also part of the Aggies’ Big South-record breaking quartet in winning the 4x100m (42.91) and 4x400m (3:31.64) at the meet.

Prieto set a school record in winning the long jump at the VertKlasse Meeting with a distance of 6.09m (19-11.75).  Her effort ranks fourth all-time in Big South history.

Nwokocha finished second in the 100m dash at the Florida Relays with a Big South-record time of 11.27 seconds, which ranks 10th in the nation.  She was also part of the Aggies’ Big South-record breaking foursome in winning the 4x100m (42.91) and 4x400m (3:31.64) at the meet.
