On May 20, the Big South Conference announced that High Point University was declared Champion after North Carolina A&T self-reported a violation to the NCAA in which an ineligble student-athlete participated, and points earned were forfeited which dropped A&T to second place.

HIGH POINT, N.C. (

FINAL RESULTS

The Aggies’ climb into first-place began when Nazah Reddick took home the high jump title with a Big South Championship Meet record-tying height of 1.78m, while teammate Kenady Wilson was second at 1.69m.  The Aggies then dashed to a Big South Championship Meet record and facility record in winning the 4x100m relay with a time of 43.19.  A&T finished 1-2 in the 100m Hurdles, as Paula Salmon won in a time of 12.76, followed by Breanne Bygrave at 13.42.

A&T’s Delecia McDuffie re-set her own Big South Championship Meet record in the 400m when she crossed the finish line in 51.97 seconds -- bettering her 52.96 mark from Tuesday and just .01 shy of her career best.  North Carolina A&T also won gold in the discus behind Julieth Nwosu’s top mark of 48.77m.  Grace Nwokocha and Symone Darius put the Aggies in the lead following the 100m dash, which was won by Nwokocha in 11.13 seconds.  Nwokocha led a trio of Aggies in the 200m when she matched her multiple Big South records in the event with a winning time of 22.75 seconds.

High Point swept the 5,000 meters, headlined by champion Ashley Jones, who ran a Big South Championship Meet record time of 16:30.24.

Campbell’s Dorcus Ewoi repeated as 1,500m champion when she emerged from the lead pack with 600 meters remaining and crossed the finish line at 4:28.85.  She then won the 800m in a facility record time of 2:06.82 to become the first runner to win the 800m and 1,500m in the same Championship Meet since 2015.

Charleston Southern’s Jewel Ash repeated as 400m Hurdles champion with a time of 57.92, becoming the first back-to-back winner in the event since 2014-15.  Ash’s teammate and Heptathlon champion Chloe Greene won the javelin with a top mark of 42.94m.

Hampton’s Amira Aduma accumulated 23 points to earn her the Most Valuable Athlete award, as she won the long jump, was third in the 100m, fourth in the 200m and was part of the second-place 4x100m relay team.

Nwokocha claimed Freshman of the Year honors for having the most accumulated points by a freshman with 22.5, and was also tabbed Most Outstanding Performer based on having the highest ranking performance nationally at the meet using current TFFRS marks, as her record-breaking effort in the 200m is ninth in the country.  North Carolina A&T Head Coach Duane Ross was voted Coach of the Year by the league coaches at the conclusion of the meet, while UNC Asheville’s Claudia Prieto was voted Scholar-Athlete of the Year by the league’s sports information directors.
