CHARLESTON, S.C. – Charleston Southern softball's Lilly Bishop was named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District IV Team. The district represents schools in South Carolina, Alabama, Florida, Georgia and Puerto Rico.  A graduate student studying criminal justice in her one year at Charleston Southern, Bishop owns a perfect 4.0 GPA through her two semesters in the Holy City.

Bishop joins teammate and pitcher Annah Junge as Buccaneers to receive academic plaudits within the past week. Junge was selected as the Big South Softball Scholar-Athlete of the Year and to the league's all-academic team Tuesday after also carrying a 4.0 GPA as a chemistry major.

Although she donned the blue and gold for just one season, Bishop was a force with whom to be reckoned in the CSU lineup. She led the Bucs with a .344 batting average and started all 44 games in which she played. She was among the team leaders in OPS (.841), slugging percentage (.453) and on-base percentage (.388), while reaching base via five walks and five hit by pitches to go along with 128 official at-bats.

The Riverside, California, native connected on 44 hits, 10 of which were extra bases, and accumulated 58 total bases. She belted two home runs, one in each game of a home doubleheader sweep against South Carolina State, and drove in 23 runs while scoring 11 herself. Her 12 strikeouts was the fewest total among the Charleston Southern regulars.

Bishop joined the rest of her Buccaneers teammates at the Big South Tournament, this week, but CSU's season came to a close Thursday after a setback to Presbyterian. Charleston Southern capped the spring with a 27-28 record, its most victories since 2014.

Bishop will join the rest of her all-district honorees in advancing to the national ballot along the with recipients from all the other districts around the country. The full Academic All-America Team will be announced at a later date.
