CHARLOTTE, N.C. (www.BigSouthSports.com) – The Big South Conference unveiled its 2022-23 women’s basketball composite league schedule Tuesday afternoon.  The 90-game slate begins on Thursday, Dec. 29, and is an 18-game, double round-robin schedule to determine the 2022-23 regular-season champion.

The slate features two games a week on Wednesdays and Saturdays, with the exception of the conference openers on Thursday, Dec. 29, plus games on New Year's Eve.  The regular-season concludes Saturday, Feb. 25.

Schedule highlights include defending Big South champion Longwood (and new head coach Erika Lang-Montgomery) opening its league season at High Point on Dec. 29, and then hosting Campbell on Saturday, Dec. 31 -- the first rematch of last year’s title contest between the squads.  The second Longwood-Campbell meeting is set for Feb. 4 in Buies Creek, N.C.

Opening the conference season at home on Dec. 29 will be Campbell (vs. Presbyterian), Charleston Southern (vs. Gardner-Webb), High Point (vs. Longwood), Radford (vs. UNC Asheville) and Winthrop (vs. USC Upstate and new head coach Jason Williams).  Campbell and High Point will start and end conference action at home, while Longwood and USC Upstate will begin and finish league play with road games.

The season culminates with the 2023 Hercules Tires Big South Women’s Basketball Championship, which will be held at Bojangles Coliseum in Charlotte, N.C., from March 1-5.  Two first round games will be Wednesday, March 1, followed by four quarterfinal contests on Thursday, March 2.  The semifinals are scheduled for Saturday, March 4, with the Championship game on Sunday, March 5.
