Big South Announces Men's Basketball Players of the Week - Jan. 30

Drew Pember (Knoxville, Tenn.) has been named the Big South Men’s Basketball Player of the Week, while Presbyterian guard
Jalen Forrest (Decatur, Ga.) is the Freshman of the Week for games played Jan. 23-29, it was announced today.
Pember averaged 30.5 points, 8.5 rebounds, 1.5 blocks, made 9-of-11 three-pointers ( =81.8 percent) and shot 94.7 percent from the charity stripe (18-of-19) in two Big South wins last week. He first netted a school-record 48 points vs. Presbyterian last Wednesday -- tying the Big South mark for most points in a conference game -- grabbed 12 rebounds, and matched the school single-game record with eight three-pointers in the Bulldogs’ overtime victory. Pember’s 48 points were the most scored by a Division I player this season, and he recorded the highest-scoring double-double in Big South annals. He followed that up with 13 points, five boards, three assists and two steals in Saturday’s win at Campbell. For the week, Pember was 17-of-30 from the field ( =56.7 percent).
Forrest averaged 17.0 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.5 assists in two games last week. He started his week with a career-high 26 points while shooting 58.3 percent from the field (7-of-12), 83.3 percent from three-point range (5-of-6), and a perfect 7-of-7 from the free throw line in PC’s overtime loss at UNC Asheville on Wednesday. He also grabbed five rebounds and dished out three assists vs. the Bulldogs. Forrest then contributed eight points, three rebounds, two assists and one steal while making a three-pointer and 5-of-6 free throws vs. Winthrop on Saturday.
