The start of the second-half of the Big South volleyball schedule resulted in three sweeps and a five-set outcome on Friday.  High Point, Winthrop and USC Upstate notched 3-0 victories, while Gardner-Webb won 3-2 over Charleston Southern.

GARDNER-WEBB 3, CHARLESTON SOUTHERN 2 | BOX SCORE
The Gardner-Webb volleyball team showed great resiliency by playing from behind in a five-set battle to defeat Charleston Southern University, 3-2, and sweep the season series against CSU for the first time in program history.  Sophomore setter Rebecca Siedenburg posted a resounding career-high 52 assists, the most by any Runnin' Bulldog this season. Siedenburg also led the match in service aces with five and tallied a double-double with 16 digs. Freshman outside hitter Madison Smith also had an incredible performance, recording her fifth double-double of the season and third in a row, with a career-high 17 kills and 10 digs.

WINTHROP 3, PRESBYTERIAN 0 | BOX SCORE
Winthrop swept the regular-season series from Presbyterian at home by a final score of 3-0 (25-22, 25-18, 25-18) on Friday. In doing so, the Eagles won their sixth straight match and remained in sole possession of second-place in the Big South standings.  Leading Winthrop were Avery Jolley (12 kills, 1 ace, 2 assists, 14 digs), Brookelynn Thomas (10 kills, 1 ace, 2 blocks) and Isabella Murray (5 kills, 1 ace, 4 blocks, 31 assists).

HIGH POINT 3, UNC ASHEVILLE 0 | BOX SCORE
Eight games into Big South conference play, and the Panthers continue the win streak. Not dropping a single set, the 3-0 victory over UNC Asheville Friday evening advanced HPU to an 8-0 record in conference play.  The Panthers were led by Dylan Maberry with 11 kills followed by Christine Graf with eight. Allie Gray finished the game with 13 assists while Hannah Hawkins added 11.

USC UPSTATE 3, RADFORD 0 | BOX SCORE
Back on its home court for the first time in four matches, USC Upstate earned its 11th victory of the season, putting Radford away in straight sets behind a balanced offensive and defensive effort while pressing the service game to the tune of 10 service aces—the most for the team in a Big South match this season.  Leading the balanced offensive effort, an attack that saw five players record six or more kills, sophomore middle blocker Ady O'Grady recorded her 10th match reaching double-figure kills, doing so for the second straight match as she recorded a team-best 10 terminations. Nearing double-digits in the kill column, sophomore outside hitter Savannah Page slammed home a season-high eight kills, fashioning a .286 hitting efficiency.
