Seedings and Pairings Announced for 2023 Big South Women's Soccer Championship

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (www.BigSouthSports.com) -- For the first time since 2018, Radford University is the Big South Conference Women’s Soccer regular-season champion, and will be the No. 1 seed in next week’s conference tournament, it was determined following the conclusion of the league season this evening.  The top four teams in the final standings qualify for the league’s postseason championship, which will be contested Nov. 2 & 5 at the SportsPlex in Matthews, N.C.
 
The Highlanders, which enter the tournament as the defending champion, finished the regular-season with 19 points and a 6-1-1 conference record for their sixth regular-season Big South title -- tied for the most in Big South history.  USC Upstate was second in the standings with a 6-2-0 record and 18 points, and the Spartans are the No. 2 seed for the second consecutive year. 
 
High Point earned the No. 3 seed based on its 15 points and 4-1-3 conference mark, and the Panthers will go head-to-head with the Spartans in the second semifinal on Thursday, Nov. 2 at 7:00pm.  Upstate won the regular-season match-up, 1-0, on Oct. 4.
 
Charleston Southern finished fourth in the standings with 14 points (4-2-2 Big South) to claim the fourth and final seed in the tournament, and will face No. 1 seed Radford in the first semifinal on Thursday, Nov. 2 at 4:00pm.  The Highlanders blanked the Buccaneers, 1-0, during the regular-season on Sept. 30.
 
The 2023 Big South Women’s Soccer Championship will be played at the Matthews Sportsplex in Matthews, N.C., on Nov. 2 (Semifinals) and Nov. 5 (Finals).  All three matches of the tournament will be broadcast on ESPN+, and the Big South’s tournament champion receives an automatic bid to the NCAA Women’s Soccer Championship.  The full tournament schedule is as follows:.

No. 1 Radford vs. No. 4 Charleston Southern, 4:00pm
No. 2 USC Upstate vs. No. 3 High Point, 7:00pm
 
Sunday, Nov. 5 – Championship at Matthews Sportsplex – Matthews, N.C. (ESPN+)
