High Point's Skyler Shults Named United Soccer Coaches National Player of the Week
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – For the second consecutive week, the Big South Conference was awarded the United Soccer Coaches National Player of the Week honor in women's soccer, as High Point's Skyler Shults was selected as this week's winner.
Shults, a sixth-year graduate student, scored her first goal of the season after returning from a season-ending injury a year ago. In the 10th minute, she finished a pass from Megan Garmey to put the Panthers ahead for good. Then, before half, Shults was on the passing end as she hit Meg Roden to take a 2-0 lead just 22 minutes in. The 2-0 win over UNC Asheville secured the Panthers’ Big South Conference Tournament berth.
The honor capped a remarkable comeback for Shults in her final season.
