Big South Announces Women's Basketball Player of the Week - Dec. 27

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (www.BigSouthSports.com– UNC Asheville guard LaImani Simmons (Greenville, S.C.) has been named the Big South Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for games played Dec. 18-24, it was announced today.

 

Simmons averaged 16.0 points and was 13-of-23 from the field ( =56.5 percent) and 3-of-6 from three-point range ( =50.0) in leading UNC Asheville to a 1-1 week. She opened with a game-high 17 points with three rebounds and one assist in a narrow 65-63 loss to North Carolina Central on Dec. 18. Simmons then helped snap UNC Greensboro’s three-game winning streak behind a team-high 15 points on 62.5-percent shooting and two assists. The junior added 1.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists for the week. 

 

Also nominated for Player of the Week: Catherine Alben (Charleston Southern), Keshunti Nichols (Charleston Southern), Amaria McNear (High Point), Anna Häger (High Point) and Ronaltha Marc (Winthrop).
