Big South Announces Men's Outdoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week - April 27
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (www.BigSouthSports.com) – The Big South Conference announced today its Men's Outdoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week for competitions this past weekend of April 20-23.
UNC Asheville’s
Zac Weas (Asheville, N.C.) was voted Men’s Track Athlete of the Week, teammate
Solomon McDonald (Carthage, N.C.) is the Men’s Field Athlete of the Week honoree, while High Point’s
Nick Lourenco (Bayshore, N.Y.) was selected the Men’s Freshman of the Week.
Weas set a PR in the 110m Hurdles at the Georgia Tech Invitational with a time of 14.14 seconds. The mark ranks second in the Big South this season.
McDonald won the shot put at the Georgia Tech Invitational with a school-record throw of 18.46m (60-06.75). His mark is the second-longest in league history, and ranks third in the Southeast Region this spring.
Lourenco claimed third in the pole vault at the UVA Challenge with a personal-best height of 5.10m, which ranks first in the conference this year, and eighth on the Big South’s all-time performance list.
