Big South Announces Volleyball Players of the Week - Sept. 11

Christine Graf (Minneapolis, Minn.) has been named the Big South Volleyball Player of the Week, while Gardner-Webb’s
Sophia Kotsovolos (Tampla, Fla.) is the Big South Libero of the Week for matches played Sept. 4-10, the Conference office announced today. In addition, HPU middle blocker
Eve Wilson (Sandy, Utah) has been selected as the Freshman of the Week.
Graf led the Panthers to a 3-0 week with wins over Wofford, East Tennessee State and Davidson with 44 kills (3.67 per set), a .263 hitting clip (44-18-99), nine blocks, eight digs and 49.0 points (4.08 per set). She first tied a career-high with 22 kills along with a season-best 23.5 points in the Panthers’ five-set win at Wofford on Tuesday. Graf then led the squad with 10 kills, hit .500 and tallied four blocks in a sweep of ETSU, and concluded her week Sunday with 12 kills and three blocks in helping HPU end Davidson’s 7-0 start to the year.
Kotsovolos tallied 46 digs and 4.18 digs per set in 11 sets across three matches last week, in addition to 14 assists, two kills, two service aces and four points. She opened with 16 digs in GWU’s four-set defeat against Quinnipiac, then notched 19 digs (4.75 per set) in a 3-1 setback to Maryland-Eastern Shore. Kotsovolos helped hold Hampton to a -.070 hitting efficiency in the Runnin’ Bulldogs’ 3-0 win, in which she posted 11 digs.
Wilson contributed 23 kills, a .340 hitting percentage, 18.0 blocks and 36.0 points in High Point’s three victories last week. She first posted eight kills and a team-high five blocks in HPU’s five-set win at Wofford. Wilson tied her career-high of seven blocks and added seven kills in the 3-0 triumph over ETSU, and concluded her week with a season-high .533 hitting clip (8-0-15), along with six blocks and two digs in the victory over Davidson.
