Big South Announces Women's Basketball Players of the Week - Jan. 15

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (www.BigSouthSports.com– Radford guard Olivia Wagner (Crozet, Va.) has been named the Big South Women’s Basketball Player of the Week, while Gardner-Webb guard Anaya Harris (Raleigh, N.C.) is the Freshman of the Week for games played Jan. 8-14, it was announced today.

 

Wagner averaged 17.0 points on 73.3-percent shooting (11-of-15) to lead Radford to an unbeaten week. She went 10-of-11 from three-point range ( =90.9 percent) and added 3.0 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game. Wagner shot a perfect 7-of-7 to open the week against Longwood with all seven makes coming from beyond the arc. In doing so, she became the second player in Big South history to hit as many triples without a single miss. She finished with a career-high 23 points, four assists and three rebounds. On Saturday, the sophomore guard tallied 11 points, three rebounds, one assist and one block to help the Highlanders remain perfect in league play this season with a 66-55 win over Winthrop.

 

Harris averaged 14.0 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.5 steals in two games for Gardner-Webb. She shot 10-of-20 from the field ( =50.0 percent) and 5-of-11 from distance ( =45.5). Harris opened the week with a career-high 18 points at Charleston Southern to go with three rebounds and two steals. She then scored 10 points with four rebounds and one steal to help the Runnin’ Bulldogs top Presbyterian College on the road, 72-58, for their first conference win of the season.
